Jiten Mehta

Jiten Mehta is a Maryland-based accountant with more than 30 years of experience in tax preparation, financial reporting, and client advisement. He holds a law degree from the Government Law College in Mumbai and is also a Chartered Accountant through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He is registered with the Maryland Board of Public Accountancy and has provided services to both individuals and businesses in a variety of industries. Since 2012, he has been serving clients through My Tax Accounting & Business Service, LLC, offering consistent and well-structured financial guidance.

His educational path began in Mumbai, where he chose to pursue both law and accountancy. He joined the Government Law College in 1982 and completed his Bachelor of Laws degree in 1987. While advancing in his legal studies, he developed a strong interest in finance and went on to earn the Chartered Accountant qualification. He later obtained an LLM from the University of Baltimore and also took classes at UDC to strengthen his knowledge further.

He began his career at Furgussion and Co., a professional services firm in Mumbai, where he worked for three years. His responsibilities included bookkeeping, income tax filings, and audit support. This role introduced him to the importance of accurate reporting, compliance obligations, and the variety of needs faced by clients in different industries.

After gaining valuable experience in India, he moved to the United States and settled in Takoma Park, Maryland. The transition required him to adapt to new tax codes, financial systems, and client expectations, but his background allowed him to adjust effectively. In 2001, he joined Allstate Insurance, where he spent a year working with insurance policies and client advisement. In 2006, he began working with H&R Block, where he spent eight years assisting individuals and businesses with both state and federal tax filings.

Since 2012, he has been leading My Tax Accounting & Business Service, LLC. His responsibilities include payroll processing, tax planning, monthly reviews, quarterly reports, and audit documentation. He works with sole proprietors, LLCs, and corporations at different stages of growth. Many of his professional relationships have lasted for decades, reflecting his consistent service and reliability.

He remains registered with the Maryland Board of Public Accountancy and continues to keep up with tax code changes and accounting standards. With training in both law and finance, he can offer balanced and practical guidance that supports both compliance and planning.

Outside his professional work, he provides informal guidance to international students, newcomers, and others adapting to U.S. systems. He has supported community causes such as the Salvation Army, choosing contribution over recognition.

He maintains a disciplined lifestyle, practicing yoga, meditation, and following a vegetarian diet. He also keeps active through walking and exercise. In his free time, he enjoys sports, chess, table tennis, and cricket.
